Introducing the International Asteroid
Database: the first regsitry
of asteroid names!
To date, scientists have discovered about
60,000 asteroids in the solar system, and most of them lie in the
"main belt" between Jupiter and Mars. Of these, almost 40,000
of them have been designated with a number, but not an official name.
This service maintains a powerful database
containing all sorts of information about the asteroids in our solar
system. Much of this information is accessible from this site. When
you register an asteroid name, we add the name to theasteroid you
have selected into the database. Each asteroid has only one name.
All registrants receive a free "asteroid
page", accessible from any internet connection as ASTEROIDREGISTRY.COM/YOUR-ASTEROID
which lists detailed information about your named asteroid. See an
example of your asteroid page.
All registrants receive a technically detailed
and beautiful certificate, suitable for framing, with information
and graphics about their asteroid. See an example of the certificate.
Also, all named asteroids will be listed
in SpaceVentures forthcoming book, "The Minor Planets",
to be listed in the US Copyright Office.
Best of all, the cost of your registration
is donated to research and education programs which help to protect
our planet from the real threat that asteroids can pose to Earth.
We even alllow you to choose the organization that your money goes
to! See where your money goes.
Help us create the world's database of
asteroid names. Help Earth to guard against near-Earth asteroids. |
